Originally referred to as personal digital assistants (PDAs), handheld computers are devices that range in size from those that fit into one hand and use a stylus to those with keyboards that are 1/2 to 1/3 the size of a typical laptop. Handheld computers or handheld devices offer many more functions than PDAs, which are mainly used for calendars, address books, and "to do" lists.
