Once you have identified the data-related questions that you want to begin exploring and answering, several new questions arise: What types of data should be collected (demographic, student achievement, curriculum, instruction, program information, etc.)? What is the data source? Where are the data located? How often should the data be collected? What steps are necessary to prepare the available data inventory? Are the data quantitative or qualitative? At what level(s) are the data reported?
This area will help you define the types of data to collect, the efforts necessary for developing a research-based repository of data, and the processes necessary for data collection.
