Research tells us that when technology is integrated as a tool for instruction, it can significantly impact student learning. However, for this to happen, teachers and administrators must change their approach to teaching, learning, and assessment. Changing the Conversation About Teaching, Learning & Technology: a report on 10 years of ACOT research, provides findings from the Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow (ACOT) project, which ran from 1985-95. This report specifically describes the changes teachers experience as they increase their classroom technology use.

The links in the table below take you to instructional units enhanced through the use of technology at the adaptation and early appropriation levels of teacher use as identified in the ACOT project. Each has a primary content area of emphasis, but most are multidisciplinary. Use these examples as models for developing your own instructional units.
