Assistive Technology
(AT)
Integrating
Assistive Technology in the Classroom:
Assistive Technology is about facilitating functioning for
people with disabilities. Current legislation, such as No
Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) mandate that providing for the special
needs of students with disabilities now includes explicit
consideration for how technology can help meet those needs,
particularly regarding individualized education programs
(IEPs).
This site focuses on the information and resources needed
to understand and integrate appropriate assistive and instructional
technologies in the classroom, and provides useful links
to AT web sites and organizations.
Distance Learning
Powerful
Learning Any Time, Any Place:
Over the last 20 years, many schools have embraced distance
learning tools to improve students' opportunities and remove
the barriers of place and time in the learning environment.
Early delivery systems gave students access to courses not
otherwise available. Now, as multimedia internet technologies
become more widely available, we have even more powerful options
for teaching and learning at a distance. With the majority
of schools now linked to the Internet, states, districts,
and schools are increasingly adopting online courses. Learn
about the benefits and latest options for distance learning
at this site. |
