There are some great features
to Microsoft Word that support differentiation strategies. So far, tips
at left include:
- Computer-generated summaries
- Identifies essential content for students to pre-read
- Highlight text
- Key words, themes, characterizations, main ideas
- Change how the text looks on the screen
- Allows user preference for font: type, size, and color
- Adjust the grammar checker
- Allows teacher to reduce frustration for students or target specific
errors
- Check the readability of selected text
- Allows teacher to choose appropriate material and encourages students
to increase complexity of their own writing.
- Links highlighted words to dictionary definitions and a
thesaurus.
Microsoft Word also allows
- Creation of templates for writing or note-taking
- Creation of text boxes and shapes, for quick graphic
organizers
- Auto-completion and auto-correction
- Text to speech & speech to text (Word 2002/Office XP)
