Portable devices such as
the AlphaSmart, CalcuScribe Duo,
Laser PC6, and Palm Pilots are an attractive
option for schools. The devices are inexpensive, durable, and power up
quickly. Some have add-on devices such as temperature probes or
cameras. Some can
read text aloud. An Inspiration
applet now exists for the PalmPilot, and AlphaSmarts have an add-on
that does word prediction.
